The South West is one of seven Local Area Committees in Sheffield. It consists of four wards: Crookes & Crosspool, Dore & Totley, Ecclesall and Fulwood.
The South West has a population of 75,203 with 21% of the community aged 65 and over.
We have some amazing parks and open greenspaces such as Millhouses Park, Endcliffe Park, Bingham Park, Porter Valley and Ecclesall Woods. There are also rural areas that border and extend out into the Peak District National Park. The natural environment is of great importance to the local community, and we have many fantastic local voluntary groups that work hard to help preserve the green spaces for people across the city to enjoy.
The area has a diverse economic and cultural mix with several busy shopping areas and a mix of independent retailers, larger high street stores and several service businesses offering hospitality and dining. The area boasts local shopping high streets like Crookes, Banner Cross and Silverhill and Crosspool, with many residents choosing to shop locally within their neighbourhoods.
The majority of residents are homeowners at 75%, around 14% rent from private landlords and there are also council housing and housing association tenants. The area has six of the city’s secondary schools.
