Sheffield’s North East Local Area Committee (LAC) is one of 7 LACs in Sheffield. It consists of 4 wards:

  • Southey
  • Shiregreen and Brightside
  • Burngreave

The North East has a population of 93,749 and is a diverse area with residents from various cultural backgrounds, languages and religions.

Just under 50% of people in the North East own their homes. Around 10% rent from private landlord and the remainder live in social housing.

Over 71% of respondents to our survey have lived in the area for over 10 years, with generations of families calling the area home.

Attractions

We have some amazing parks, such as:

  • Firth Park
  • Concord Park
  • Wooley Woods
  • Longley
  • Parson Cross
  • Parkwood Springs
  • Abbeyfield

Some of these feature historical landmarks and open green spaces.

The area also boasts thriving local shopping centres in Firth Park, Spital Hill and Kilner Way.

Many residents choose to shop locally within their neighbourhoods.

Funding and support in East LAC

The North East LAC has a budget of £100,000 to develop and deliver the priorities outlined by the community during recent consultations.

Ward pots

Ward pots aim to support stronger, more successful communities by providing grants to local voluntary, community and self-help groups and projects.

If your organisation can contribute to your local area, you may be eligible for funding.

Community Infrastructure Levy

Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) grants are available to undertake specific ward projects that align with the priorities of individual wards.
